Bhaktivedanta College Students Produce a CD called 'Divine Love' - 2008-07-01

Divine LoveRecently, students of Bhaktivedanta College, supported by additional devotees, recorded a CD called "Divine Love".

Krishangi-lila Dasi and Kalindi Dasi, two exceptional singers from Estonia, composed melodies for some of the most sacred Sanskrit verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam, and they are the main performers. They produced this CD for the pleasure of Sri Sri Radha Gopinatha, the presiding Deities of Radhadesh.

Bhaktivedanta College CD 1Three years ago, students of Bhaktivedanta Collegerecorded their first CD. The tracks included various bhajans, the Gopinatha song, Jaya Radha Girivara-dhari, and Nava Gaura Varam. Many devotees gave the students positive feedback, which inspired them to record a second CD.

The students enjoyed their recording work and will travel to some cities this summer to present songs from the CD. The Radhadesh devotees are excited about the quality and style of the tracks. A wonderful cover, showing Sri Sri Radha-Krsna and two white peacocks, completes this attractive CD.

The CDs are available at many European temple shops and through Bhaktivedanta Library Services. The CD will be sold through an outside distributor to esoteric shops and yoga studios and will be offered on various internet platforms.

The texts of the songs are mainly from an ancient Indian scripture called Srimad-Bhagavatam.

In a book entitled “Dance of Divine Love”, the author, Graham M. Schweig, describes the story that most of the chosen texts rely on as “India’s classical sacred love story known as the Rasa Lila. It is a dramatic poem about young maidens joining with their ideal beloved to perform a wondrous ‘circle dance of love,’ or Rasa. Its story is an expression of the eternal soul’s loving union with the supreme deity in ‘divine play,’ or Lila. The Rasa Lila is considered the ultimate message of one of India’s most treasured scriptures, the Bhagavata Purana [Srimad-Bhagavatam].”

The tracks on the CD correspond to the following texts:

Track 1: Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.32.15–22
Track 2: Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.1.1
Track 3: Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi 1.1–2
Track 4: Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.1.1–3
Track 5: Srimad-Bhagavatam 2.9.33–36
Track 6: Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.29.1–11
Track 7: Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.30.5–13
Track 8: Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.31.1– 9

“Divine Love” is the second CD in the Bhaktivedanta College CD series.

Bhaktivedanta College is situated in the idyllic Belgian Ardennes. The college is an educational offshoot of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, an organization founded, in 1966, by His Divine Grave A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The college runs in partnership with the University of Wales Lampeter. At the college, students from all over the world participate in academic, vocational and devotional modules, and they may obtain a Bachelor's degree in Vaiñëava Theology. Students and staff cooperate with devotee-musicians to produce these CDs. We hope you enjoy hearing them as much as we enjoy producing them.
